A Dogs Journey
About
A Dogs Journey focuses on the relationship between canine and owner. This allows for a relationship that works on trust and helps further the training experience. At A Dogs Journey we take teams when applicable through the following American Kennel Club evaluations AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, AKC Canine Good Citizen, ACK Community Canine and ACK Urban CGC. Our main goal is not only to build a healthy team relationship but to help ensure the canine has the framework to become a polite member of society.
A Dogs Journey works in an array of things to include dog obedience, crate training, leash training as well as service dog training; all while using positive reinforcement and science based methods. Our mission is to unite canine and owner so that they may become a strong team and create a wonderful journey.
Typical Sessions
Prior to starting any training a consultation is required.
A typical training session usually lasts from an hour to an hour and a half. In that time we focus on not only way is predetermined by the training plan established in the consultation but what keeps your dog in line with learning AKC elements in a timely yet efficient manner.
Week one we always restart by teaching sit, with the use of treat leading as well as verbal and physical touch. In doing so we teach the dog that doing good things provides good rewards and all those rewards are good. We eventually pull back on treats and make it so that verbal and physical praise are welcomed and accepted at the same level of receiving treats.
BREAKS
At A Dogs Journey we believe in giving breaks. In that time we work on other skills, such as sniffing and seeking and just plain old fun. From brain toys, to frozen treats to cut pool noodles in a box your dog will get the most out of every training session.
Every week you will be asked to complete a questionnaire, just so we know how we are doing. Each week notes are taken on you and your dog and at the end of your journey should you choose you get to receive all those notes.
NOTICE
As I Andrea Mason would be acting as your trainer any and all evaluations you embark in will be evaluated by someone else as it is an ethical view that myself as the trainer can not evaluate you for a title.

Andrea has been such a lifesaver for me and my two dogs! From the moment we started working together, I could see how much she genuinely cared about helping us succeed. She really took the time to understand each of my dogs' personalities and tailored her approach to fit their needs. Thanks to her, both of them are now so much better with basic obedience, and our daily walks and routines are so much smoother! I also learned a lot about how to continue reinforcing their training at home. I’m beyond grateful for her patience, encouragement, and the personal touch she brought to every session. We couldn't have done it without her!

Remy was a wild and fully energetic dog. Working with Andrea, Remy has learned the basics training skills and has made our interactions with Remy intentional. She taught us how to use each encounter to reinforce those skills she already knows as well as practice new ones. I would recommend her to anyone in need of a doggy “bootcamp."
