My Story

I’m Danyele "Andrea" Mason born in Indianapolis, but I’ve currently rooted my heart and craft in Augusta, Georgia, the place I now call home.

I am a multimedia artist, and my work is shaped and rooted by the rhythm of lived experiences - the joy, the ache, and the quiet resilience in between. My art is my voice and the mirror I look into, offering representation to those who share my skin, my struggles, and my strength. Art is part of my healing process each creation is both a wound and a salve—a practice that gives me space to work through pain and transform it into something meaningful. I move freely between the traditional and the unconventional by blending traditional techniques with unconventional materials to create pieces that feel honest and human by letting feeling guide the hand and story shape the medium.
Through my work, I invite viewers to walk not only beside my healing—but through the moments that made it necessary. In giving myself permission to create without limits, my photography, fiber, clay and multimedia pieces find room to bloom. Other art and mediums give a breath between wounds and make room for recovery creating a quiet space where I can pause, reflect and truly feel what is being cultivated. As the days unfold, I move through a spectrum of mediums each offering its own rhythm, resistance, and texture. Just as pain knows no limits, I push my creative practice to reflect that same depth and range. Through this process, I aim not only to express emotion but to guide others through the space of healing, one material at a time.

As part of my healing journey, I’ve come to accept that I need support which is a hard realization. Support for me comes on four legs. Accepting that I need a service dog wasn't easy, but it reawakened a deep childhood love for canines and training them. That passion now lives and breaths my partner Rocky Balboa, a staffordshire terrier who's been by my side since he was weaned in November of 2018.
Life after the military was difficult, one minute I was fine and the next I began to struggle with getting out of bed, leaving the house, and feeling safe in my surroundings. Since Rocky and I began to truly train and work together with an organization in late 2019 things began to change. Rocky truly helps me stay on track be it taking my medication, staying on my feet and keeping me grounded when we're out in the world and sometimes even at home. What he offers ranges from giving me purpose, structure and hope. He's made a real difference in my quality of life and I'm so thankful for him and the journey we continue to face every day.

Thank you for visiting — I look forward to collaborating with you soon.
